What is NOT to like about this wonderful restaurant! On the Rocks is the perfect name because rocks, waves, Cape Town, and Table Mountain is what you see from the tables. We so enjoyed our first night in Blouberstrand (with our waiter Lica) that we decided to come back the next night to try different things! The next night Slydon was our waiter. When you go, ask to see if either Lica or Slydon are working, but with the gregarious General Manager I imagine all of the team is really great! Views! Staff! The food was wonderful. I loved the salmon wasabi starter–a nod to sushi inspired dishes. The first night the “line catch” was excellent–other restaurants would call that the fresh fish of the day. Simple and tasty. But I think that my favorite was the Kadu (an African animal similar to a deer). I would suggest rare or medium rare as this particular meat is easy to over cook! If I understand correctly the restaurant is under recent new ownership and they seem to have gotten it all right! Give them a try! Make a reservation for 30 minutes before sunset and ask for a window table.
We loved our seafood curry, we stopped by for a quick lunch before work. The Manager Andre was so friendly and made us feel so welcome. We will definitely be back, next time when we have more time.
This was a great spot for lunch and a few drinks.
We sat out on the deck area where you have the most stunning views of Table Mountain. The service was excellent and our waiter made sure our drinks were replenished at all times. The food was pleasant and the menu was pretty good with lots of choice.
The most beautiful views from this restaurant
I had reserved a table for two at On the Rocks, for 7.30 in the evening, but we were running late, and although I called in to say we would be late, we came even later, I was expecting to be turned away, but the friendly staff welcomed us in and we had a wonderful meal, and great wine recommended by our waiter. The atmosphere and food was great, staff very friendly and exceptionally helpful.
Thank you to all at On the Rocks, it was a pleasant and good experience, I will be back for more of your tasty food and good service.
Our artist daughter had her Steampunk themed wedding reception at On The Rocks on 23 February. Right from the start it was painless and relaxing discussing details with Claudia. Everything went smoothly, the waiters were efficient, friendly, enthousiastic and attentive. We were discreetly kept informed of the drinks tab and even a guest asking for another helping of calamari as dessert did not phase them! The cocktails and canapès were superb, as were all choices on the set menu. The lamb shoulder (not on the regular menu) was absolutely outstanding. We were blessed with a beautiful day and the view from the restaurant of course stunning. Prices were reasonable- third daughter to get married and the best experience of all. Coupled with the talent of Andre at Purity Flowers, who gave the theme absolute justice and entralled us with his beautiful flowers and decor, it was a magnificient day.
